This was created for the "Art From Memory Challenge" at http://www.thememoryproject.com/. The site is a really cool project and I would definitely recommend looking around for a while.
This piece won an Honorable Mention and will be shown at 44wide in Toronto, along with the other honorable mentions and Finalists.

This piece is inspired by the story of Donald Robert Stevenson, a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force serving in Pilot Training. Towards the end of the war the Japanese began sending “Fire Balloons” (Essentially hydrogen balloons with bombs strapped to them) across the ocean towards Canada and the US. Mr. Stevenson was one of the pilots tasked with shooting these balloons down before they reached land.
